Spain 2008
Spain 2008 by Ciara Lihou and Mia O'Hara
At 11:45 am on Saturday 21st June, forty excited Blanchlande girls’ arrived at the harbour to start their adventure! The teachers did not realise what they had been roped into! The crossing to Saint Malo was calm unlike us Blanchelande girls’!
We all gazed at the double decker coach as if we had never seen anything like it! There was no boredom on the coach, just pure excitement!
When we finally arrived at the California Gardens Hotel in Salou, most excitement had been drained by tiredness. It was typical, beautiful Spanish weather. Everyone was sunbathing hoping for an instant tan!
During the week we enjoyed many activities, some more educational than others! The adventures included: Caribe Aqua Park, Barcelona, Port Aventura theme park and Tarragona. The water park and theme park were action packed days. In Barcelona, there were many once in a lifetime experiences, like seeing The Sagrada Familia. We walked around a very interesting ancient Roman wall in Tarragona. Plus we had an unexpected surprise, we went to Tarragona shopping centre and we did what girls do best, shopping!
Every night, at the hotel, there was evening entertainment. There were funny songs such as “Chu chu wah” and “Little Johnny Dance.”
On the evening we left, unlike the morning we arrived, there were lots of sad faces, saying goodbye to new friends that were made. It is very difficult for us to report what happened on the way home as we slept most of the way!
Overall, we all had a great time and in our opinions, Spain 2008, was a huge success and I hope we didn’t wear the teachers out too much! There will be memories similar to ours in past Spanish trips and Spanish trips to come but none will be as different as our Spanish trip memories!
We would like to thank all the teachers for organizing and putting up with us throughout the trip!
