Ellie Holland, aged 13, has been selected to play for the
National Children's Orchestra in the UK. Blanchelande College pupil
Ellie auditioned at St James via a video link for judges in the UK.
Ellie, who started playing the flute seven years ago, said:
'It was great to be accepted because I was not really expecting it
as it is such a big thing'.

Netballer Alice Gallienne has become the youngest player on the
UK's under-21 netball team. The 14 year old Blanchelande College
pupil said she was amazed and thrilled when she was picked during
trials in London and will be going to Brisbane, Australia in June
2012 to compete in the world series. There were only twelve places

Blanchelande College was transformed into an array of Christmas
themed stalls, craft activities and cafe, to name but a
few, as well as Father Christmas and Mrs Christmas in
their grotto!

Our Nativity Concerts were a huge success. The story
of 'Tinsel and Tea Towels was based around a
fictitious school inspection at Blanchelande College!
The Junior pupils took on the roles of various staff members,
nativity characters and animals whilst the Infant pupils became
angels and shepherds. Pre-School were 'Twinkling Stars' and
twinkle they did!

Honor de Garis recently came runner up in the Rotary Club Young
Chef of the Year competition out of 13 entrants. The challenge was
to prepare and cook a healthy three-course meal within two hours at
the College of FE for under £7 per head.

We were very excited to have Stuart Hardie visiting Blanchelande
this morning to talk about his recent fund raising for the charity
Wooden Spoon. Remarkably, Stuart ran 40 marathons in 40 days from
John O'Groats in Scotland to Lands End in Cornwall.

A team from Blanchelande came sixth in a UK wide First Aid
Competition on Friday 18th November 2011 held at Coton House,
Rugby. The Young Grand Prior First
Aid Challenge is a UK wide competition for teams of young people
from industry, voluntary youth organisations and
schools.

Blanchelande's Year 10 Business Studies pupils were delighted to
receive a visit from Malcolm Hart yesterday who is the Chief
Executive Officer of AurignyAir Services. He spoke to the pupils
about his own career, the Airline business in general and different
marketing strategies that the company uses.

We were visited today by a Sea King Helicopter from
863 Squadron based in Yeovilton, Somerset. This has become an
annual event for our pupils and gives them the chance to meet the
helicopter crew and sit in the driving seat! It was
a fantastic occasion and parents and pupils alike would like
to thank the Royal Navy for giving up their time to come to
