Our causes

Our support for the Royal Guernsey Light Infantry Charitable Trust

The Trust was formed in Guernsey during 2016 as a focal point for the one hundredth anniversary of the service of The Royal Guernsey Light Infantry.

“Guernsey's finest hour”

The noble and heroic sacrifice of the Guernseymen of the RGLI remains a powerful story

Blanchelande College is proud to be associated with the work of the RGLI Charitable Trust and fully supports the Trust's objectives of remembrance, commemoration and education, together with the establishment of cultural connections between communities and their families which reflect on the experiences of difficult days in our shared history.

We have been fortunate to host Mr Chris Oliver (co-founder and trustee of the RGLI) at a number of assemblies, through which the history of Guernsey's involvement in the Great War, and the work of the Trust, has been outlined for students in preparation for a number of activities this year, leading hopefully up to a series of exchange visits.

During the Autumn of 2021, teachers and students are working on a video project to present Blanchelande College to schools in Masnieres.
