Admissions and fees
Blanchelande College, Guernsey's only co-educational independent school, has been educating children for more than a century. Our doors are always open to parents interested in paying us a visit. In September 2020 we will be opening a new Sixth Form, adding Years 12 and 13 to our existing provision.
What Blanchelande offers
Since its foundation in 1902, Blanchelande College has offered a Catholic education to pupils from a range of backgrounds and beliefs. Blanchelande helps parents to raise confident, joyful and well-rounded children by helping to foster moral responsibility and a sense of a higher purpose alongside an excellent academic education. Academic results are strong, with 80% of pupils achieving at least 5 A*-C grades at GCSE (island average, 68.4%), with 40% of total grades at 7-9 (equivalent to A*-A). Value added data, based on baseline test predictions, shows that Blanchelande pupils on average far exceed their expected outcomes, based on raw ability.
Rated 'excellent' across the board by ISI
Blanchelande was inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in October 2018. The College was rated 'excellent' overall and fully compliant with all regulations set by the British Government. For the report, click here.
Open Morning and visits
Our whole-school open morning is held each year in late September. In addition, we are always pleased to welcome by appointment parents and families to Blanchelande for a tour and a meeting with the Principal. Taster days for pupils are arranged throughout the year and are the best way to find out what the school is really like. Our Registrar, Sonia Hollowell, will be delighted to receive your enquiry.

When to join
Pupils can join the College into any year group (Reception – Year 11) where places are available. Just contact our Registrar if you'd like to enquire about whether a space if available in your son or daughter's year group. If you are interested in our new Sixth Form (opening in September 2020), please contact our Registrar for further information.
Entry into the senior school (Year 7)
Pupils in Blanchelande's Junior School transfer automatically from Year 6 into Year 7, with no additional acceptance form required. Should a pupil from Year 6 not be transitioning to Year 7 at Blanchelande, a term's notice is required as per the College terms and conditions.
External applicants are advised to register as early as possible as places in Year 7 are limited.
Although not academically selective, every pupil who is offered a place at the College has to satisfy certain criteria:
- A satisfactory assessment in English and Maths, to ensure that they will find our curriculum accessible
- A satisfactory taster day
- A satisfactory reference from their current school
Parents also meet the Principal to learn about the College and ask any questions that they may have.

Special place holders
Blanchelande historically offered six Special Places, awarded to pupils through the 11+ exam. The final 11+ exam in Guernsey took place in 2018 for entry in September 2018; after this the Special Places will be phased out as pupils with those places leave the Colleges.
Our termly fees for the academic year 2019/20 are £3,607. (Please click here our fees page.)
