Junior Admissions

As a one-form entry school from Reception – Year 4, Junior places are often very limited. In Years 5 and 6 we have two forms, with around 22 additional places available.

Meetings and tours

The Principal is delighted to welcome every child and their family on their first visit to Blanchelande College. This visit provides you with the opportunity to share information about your child’s education and interests. These meetings take place throughout the year and can be booked at your convenience with Sonia Hollowell, our Registrar. We will provide you with a personal tour to give you an insight into life at Blanchelande and see the school in action.

Taster days and assessment

Children applying to join our Junior department are invited for a free taster day. This allows families to become familiar with the school and for the teaching team to meet each child. A short English and Mathematics assessment, in a reassuring setting, will take place during this taster day – with hot chocolate to calm any nerves! Following this taster day, feedback is shared with parents. Offers are made subject to a satisfactory taster day, receipt of a most recent school report (including any SEN/additional support) and completion of our registration process. If your child would like to experience a specific lesson on their taster day eg Physical Education, Art, Music, French, please let us know and we will ensure this can be arranged.

Open Day

For current or prospective families, there is no better opportunity to see the whole school (Nursery to Sixth Form) in action at our annual College Open day which takes place on the last Saturday of September each year. You will be offered a tour to meet your interests, led by one of our senior school students.
